4 months ago I was hired by a company to work from home doing computer progaming. The only reason I left my old job was because of this. Now they are telling me that I need to come into the office and be onsite.I don’t have it in writing that I was hire to work from home, but if I knew this would happen, I never would have left my other job. My other job was 5 minutes away and this one is an hour commute.I also gave up health benefits to work with this new job.My old job had great health benefits and were flexibile but to be able to work from home full time was not an option with them, this is going to be hard on my family since we sacrificed a lot like childcare which we can’t get back. DO I have any legal option that would not allow them to suddenly do this? I would never have taken the job if I new they were going to require me to commute an hour for less money and no benefits. They are not offering any of that now either. Please help! Is ther anything I can do or am I stuck?
Thanks for the answer Bib Bobby, but does this help me in anyway ? I was hoping to maybe try and negotiate working from home 2 days of the week at best, but do I have a case at all or should I just be happy they didn’t lay me off ???
I just looked at my folder I got with all my paperwork, it does say in there the date I started and that I will be working out of my home office! The thing that changed is my job requirenments, I no longer report or do work for that branch office so my boss called me about 1 month ago to tell me I am reporting to him and will be doing work for his unit? I guess it took them a month to decide I should come in since I am the only one who works from home but does that make it a change in job description so they can indeed, demand I work in there office instead of my home office? Or do I have a legal case ?
