Chiropractor is a stay-at-home mom now

If you are in a dilemma if you should quit the dreadful 9 to 5 job and stay home with your children, here is another story of a brave lady who quit her job as a chiropractor and be a stay at home mom:

Last year, Susan Salomon-Kresch made a sea change in her life.

She sold her Southfield-based chiropractic practice of 18 years and became a stay-at-home mother to the Kresch kids: Max, 10; Talya, 9; David, 7, and Atara, 5.

Now, instead of healing the pains of her patients, the 44-year-old shops, cooks, organizes sock drawers, helps with homework and does other tasks just for her family.

Does she feel appreciated?

“The biggest compliment is when my kids come up to me and hug me, and we’re laughing and enjoying time together,” Salomon-Kresch said.

“I look at their faces and I know it’s right for our family. There’s a beautiful calmness in the house.”

She and her husband, Ed Kresch, 42, a property manager, live in Oak Park. Their children attend Akiva Hebrew Day School in Southfield.

QUESTION: Any regrets?

ANSWER: I miss my patients. I had the ability to reach out and help so many people in a physical and emotional way. I loved being a chiropractor and giving for the sake of giving, to truly make a difference in someone’s life. What a feeling! It was a hard decision to leave. But ultimately, I felt I could always go back to working, but I could never go back to those years of raising my kids.
