Three years ago, I have made the biggest decision of my life, to quit my job to become a full time stay at home mother after my second baby was born. With two young children, I am determine to raise them myself.
Mine you, it was the toughest decision of my life. You see, being a Masters degree holder, and a college lecturer, to quit my job and stay at home is a waste of time and talent to many people, including my nearest and dearest. But I was determine and never doubted my decision.
It was not easy to switch to a single income family and we have to make many sacrifices. It was then I started to look for opportunities which I can work from home. In the first year, I fell for many scams and lost a lot of money, especially in programmes promising easy money from simple tasks, such as hometyping, mail order business, sms business… u name it, I have tried it. I have tried MLMs too, but being a mother, I hardly have time to meet people and network, so eventually i gave up.
So I started to explore the internet to earn some money. And I never look back since. The opportunities from the internet are limitless, one just need to keep learning and exploring, and have an open mind. The possibility of earning an income online is very real. In this blog, having learnt the hard way, wasting a lot of time and money, I would like to share my humble experience and resources which I hope will help stay-at-home moms to earn an income to contribute to household expenses. More importantly, when stay-at-home mothers start earning from home, it raises their self-esteem and not feel that they are totally dependant. Earning from the internet has become a wonderful experience for me, aside from earning money, I get to know many wonderful online friends from all over the world.
What I am going to share here maybe new to many of you. Most of us, when we hear about earning from the internet, we think about internet business, selling products or services. Well, if you have a valuable product and sought after service to sell online, you will do great, provided you know a thing or two about internet marketing. Technical services like building websites and designs, accounting, consulting are all well sought after services. If you can write, selling ebooks are great income earners. If you know how to make a product which is easy to sell online, you can also build a profitable business from home.
What if some mothers, like myself, who don’t have any special technical skills to offer. ( I know I teach college kids, but I have not found a way to teach totally online.) Who can’t bake or sew, can’t write a good book, who can’t build a website to start an internet business, who don’t like to rush to meet deadlines, who don’t like to meet and call people to sell them something, no marketing skills ……. so what is left for me?
What I am going to share is for mothers like myself. However, before you read on, you need to have an open mind as well as detemination to learn. I am not any expert but I do hope to share whatever I can. I welcome any comments and I hope we can learn together.
To those mothers who are thinking of working from home, stick to your decision. You just need to have tons of persistence and determination. Nothing is impossible.
